Steve

I love Cruising World Magazine but this app is garbage! I have subscribed the the monthly issues but half the time the will not download. When they do the issues will not open or after turning a couple of pages will seize. Total crap. If I could give this app a negative rating I would. You are better of getting your issue CW on Zinio, at least that way you will be able to read the.

Cruise Elsewhere

This app is bad enough to motivate me to write a review - and Im a pretty complacent fellow normally. I enjoy the magazine but this app is unusable and the support is completely nonexistent. I purchased a subscription in August 2011 and downloaded some issues over the next few months. Inexplicably they disappeared and my subscription was no longer valid. They continued to bill me monthly however. No response to support submissions. Ever. Eventually this was resolved in a patch. Newer versions of the app seem to be plagued with freezing and delays of up to a minute. Thats a long time to flip a page or resume from the screen locking. Dont be a glutton for punishment like me! Save yourself some grief and subscribe via Zinio - which is a vastly superior iPad app in both features and performance - Im doing it as we speak even though I have the subscription already - its that bad.

Slow and Jerky app

I dont know if its because the whole magazine is a series of large images but the app is very jerky at times. I have an iPad 2 and most of the time that I open a magazine the iPad completely freezes for about 10 seconds. Like its processing something. Same thing when I switch back for an other app to open magazine. I think this app should also support landscape mode. This allows for reading without zooming in all the time. Other then that I can say with certainty that if I could, I would subscribe all my magazine on the iPad with notification when a new editions available. Adios paper magazines!

Save your money

This is the worst app Ive got. Crashes constantly, jerky, etc. I totally agree with the other unfavourable comments Ive read concerning this app. Zinio much better and although the per issue price is higher, at least you get to read it!

Soooooo sloooooow

Seem to be a constance with all Bonnier magazine. When you lunch the app, it take forever to have the app respond to input. So, if you have a couple minutes to browse your magazine, thought luck, you wont probably have enough time. Get serious Bonnier, this is getting worst. It was unacceptable then and is even less acceptable now.

Wont open

Subscribed...worked great for awhile and now will not open.

Very buggy

This is a nice-looking app and I tolerate it because I really prefer reading magazines electronically. Unfortunately this app crashes frequently while reading an issue, loses subscribed content (can be restored, but its a pain), often double-downloads issues, and loses track of past purchases. A full deletion of the app and its content, then a restore of all purchases, will bring content back. Still, for a monthly magazine its frustrating to have to go through that process about once every one or two issues.

Update Needed

App used to work, but with the new iOS it does nothing but crash. In addition the App Support link to the support web page is broken. Frustrating.

Subscription No longer working

Midway through this year this app was upgraded and I can no longer update the app or download the magazine as I have an iPad 1. In spite of numerous notes on the help page I have never ben contacted or offered any consideration for the fact that I can no longer use this subscription. Is it worth buying a new iPad just to get this magazine. Hell No

Never did get access to mag

Despite being a hard copy subscriber, never was able to get the free digital version. Tried many times for a month in different ways (3 possible) Useless app.

Every other page an ad

Dont waste your time.

Excellent!

I just finished reading the print edition and decided to look at the iPad version. I only looked at the trial version and the articles and photos were the same as the "real" magazine. One reviewer complained about the ads but he he/she read the free sample, its not hard to understand why the producers want to encourage people to buy the full version. Plus, has the reviewer read the print version? They dont see advertising there???!!

should be free with paper subscription

Paying again for the same mag is frustrating. If you have a paper subscription, allow us to get access to the digital version through its completion. Would be much appreciated. Love the magazine.

Should be free to subscribers

Maybe youll get a few extra folks to pay who dont get the print version... maybe. Not sure it will exceed the value of happy loyal customers though. Its a both / and world...

Not Free to Paper Subscribers

The iPad vesion of "Passage Maker" is free to paper subscribers but not "Cruising World". No way Im paying for the same info twice!

Paying twice?

After a diligent search, Im astonished to find that although I subscribe to the magazine, if I want to read it on the go on my iPad, apparently I need to pay for a separate subscription? Poor form gentlemen.

Be good if it worked

Worked at first....hasnt worked again. Yet still paying for each month. Dont buy until it gets fixed.

Worthless

Like others, my experience has been that the billing part works great (for Cruising World) but no magazine is provided. Glad I only signed up for the monthly subscription at $1.99, then turned off the renewal so I only out $2. Dont bother calling the subscription people listed in the hard copy. They are clueless and dont care.

Quirky?

One thing I find quirky and non-standard is that Cruising World can only be read in the vertical orientation. I subscribe to quite a few digital publications, and this is the only one that does not permit the reader to view it either horizontally or vertically. I prefer the former because I can see more of the layout and then simply zoom in on anything that interests me. This publication, however, can only be viewed one page at a time, and I find this limitation quite annoying. Caveat: I read the free, sample version so its possible that the paid version does not contain this limitation. There is a horizontal view example in the "iPad screenshots" sample above. If the paid version offers a choice of orientations, Id say the digital version of Cruising World is no better or worse than other digital publications.
